Guided tours

Out of solidarity with vulnerable members of our society, Nagra is foregoing all events and tours, including those with a small number of participants. Visits to the underground rock laboratories and drill sites have been put on hold until at least the end of April.

Whenever possible, all tours and events will take place at a later date.

More information

What does a mountain look like inside? How does an echo sound in a tunnel?

Visit us and form your own impression! A guided tour of an underground rock laboratory will provide you with an insight into the research being conducted on the safe disposal of radioactive waste. You will also experience the unique atmosphere of a fascinating underground world.

Register for a guided tour

Please contact Renate Spitznagel (see box on right for contact details) to register for a guided tour of the Grimsel or Mont Terri rock laboratories. You can also visit a Nagra drill site (details and registration).

Rock laboratories provide important insights

Underground rock laboratories provide scientists with the opportunity to conduct experiments on a large, almost realistic scale. The research includes investigating the rock and its behaviour as well as testing technical procedures. The experiments provide important information for the construction of deep geological repositories.

We look forward to your visit.
